Valentine’s Day Week: The Soundtrack

Because You Can’t Have Oral Sex Without These Aural Sects

And awaayyyy we go!

Here’s a list of mushy songs in case any of you wanna take it back to the Olde Schoole and make a Romantic mix-CD or iPod playlist or whatever the heck for your significant other. (some of these will be cheesy, but if you’re that worried about being not cheesy, I don’t want you reading this blog anymore)

1- Sophie B. Hawkins, “As I lay me down” (best. love song. ever.)
2- Boyz II Men, “In the still of the Nite” (sweet lyrics and great harmonies)
3- Stupid John Mayer, “Your body is a wonderland” (“the cutest dirty song ever”)
4- Mariah Carey, “Vision of Love” (old school Mariah, back before the boob job)
5- Brian Adams & Barbara Streissand, “I Finally Found Someone” (very cute)
6- Janet Jackson, “Love will never do without you” (if this song doesn’t make you smile, your heart sucks)
7- Mariah Carey & Luther Vandross, “Endless Love” (classic, classic, classic)
8- Alanis Morissette, “Head over Feet” (for the former cynic who is now in love)
9- LeeAnn Rimes, “I Need You” (perfect for squishy time)
10- Ben E. King, “Stand By Me” (only if you’re in a good, solid relationship without fuckery. Sean Kingston did enough to this song’s legacy without fake ass couples tarnishing it)
11- TLC, “Baby Baby Baby” (some elementary/middle school flavor)
12- The Stylistics, “You Are Everything” (amazing oldie, and it was on The Wonder Years!!)
13- Evan & Jaron, “Crazy for this girl” (post-boyband love pop)
14- Monica, “Angel of Mine” (just a great declaration of affection and appreciation)
15- Ne-Yo, “Because of you” (about booty, but gentle love-making booty)
16- The Righteous Brothers, “Unchained Melody” (no description needed)
17- Norah Jones, “Come away with me” (soft, soothing, lovely)
18- Alicia Keys, “No One” (anthemic, powerful, perfect)
19- J. Holiday, “Bed” (another booty song, but very ethereal)
20- Madonna, “Crazy for you” (20+ years old and still butterfly-inducing when you like someone)
21- Rey, “The Last Love Song” (if you haven’t heard it, I’ll e-mail it to you. 2nd Best. Love song. Ever.)

And since I’m at it, Here are some songs to avoid putting on a mushy CD or playlist:

1- Boyz II Men, “I’ll Make Love To You”– The song’s been out forĀ 13 years. Don’t bust out this done-to-death-so-now-it’s-a-cliche song like it’s still 1994.

2- Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You”– Cuz let’s face it, forever is tough to do, and “always” = “forever”. My father’s parents can use this song cuz they’ve been married 65 years. Don’t even front like you’ll be with ____ in 65 years.

3- Martina McBride, “Valentine”– Do I even need to say why? *sigh* Cuz it’s corny to play it on Valentine’s Day, that’s why.

Call Reynolds, Cuz it’s a Wrap
Okay kids, that’s it for today. I’m not sure if I’ll have a post for tomorrow–actual Valentine’s Day–but if I don’t, enjoy this week’s festivities.

As always, any comments, critiques, questions, and additions to the list can be left below in the Christopher Wallace Memorial Comments Section.
Thanks for checking in,
